Carrier Scout Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 11, 2026
Carrier Scout is built so that your lookup activity stays yours. There are no user accounts, no advertising, and no tracking. This page describes exactly what leaves your device, why, and what never does.
What we receive when you run a lookup
When you look up a phone number, the app sends that number to our carrier-data service to perform the check, together with a random per-install identifier (an app UUID) and your subscription tier. The identifier exists for abuse prevention, quota enforcement, and support diagnostics — it is generated by the app, is not derived from you or your device's hardware, and is not designed to identify you. We do not build a server-side profile of your lookups, and we do not sell or share lookup data with third parties for marketing.
What never leaves your device
- Trust Check. The trust assessment shown with a lookup is computed entirely on your device from information the app already holds. Numbers are never sent to any reputation service.
- Your workspace. History, notes, tags, favorites, watchlist entries, and call/text protection rules are stored on your device and, if you enable it, in your personal iCloud account — under Apple's iCloud terms, controlled by your choices in Settings. We cannot read your iCloud data.
Purchases
Subscriptions and credit packs are processed by Apple through your Apple Account. We never see your payment details. The app verifies your entitlements with Apple's StoreKit on-device.
Notifications, widgets, and system features
Watchlist alerts and quota notices are generated locally on your device. The call blocking and message filtering features run inside iOS system extensions that read only the protection lists you created; the message filter operates fully offline.
Analytics and crash data
The app keeps a small set of usage counters and system-provided performance metrics locally on your device to power its own diagnostics screens. They are not transmitted to us. If you choose to email support, you decide whether to attach the diagnostics snapshot the app prepares for you.
Data retention
Operational service logs used for abuse prevention and reliability are retained only as long as operationally necessary and are not used to build user profiles. Your on-device and iCloud data persists until you delete it — you can clear history and workspace data at any time from Settings.
Children
Carrier Scout is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new "Last updated" date. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
